We are a nation of procrastinators. In their November magazine, Sainsbury’s journalist Sharon Parsons highlighted that we waste 69 minutes of each day putting off what we should be doing, in favour of what we feel like doing (data from Bing).
My top tip to avoid procrastination is to start each day by having your Actions List already on your (tidy) desk. Write your list at the end of each day, when your To-Dos are fresh in your mind and you can leave work behind knowing that you have a clear plan for the next day. When you arrive at your desk, I’m sure you may have a little catch up with colleagues and drink some coffee, but then you are ready to start work without wasting time thinking, “What do I need to do today?”.
